Dreaming

Published on Feb 24, 2023

As I dream,
Wandering in my sleep.
I walk among tall reeds—
That cover me to my neck.
My knees shiver as the cold begins
To come upon me.

It does not welcome—
Anything that is not like itself
So alone; nothing to be
Nowhere to go.

Now I walk willing to know more
About a lonely beast
Who can cool you on a hot day,
Or silence you in its breath.
