I Am Who You See

I am who you see,
With nothing hidden beneath the surface
Simply a shell
Of a man,
Empty from the inside out.
Those who see my actions
Say praises of what I do,
But they cannot see the emptiness
That fills me.
Shadows and shades
Of a disturbing grey.
I am a man,
Nothing more
And nothing less.
A simple device that strives
For the nothingness
To find its fill
Of something worth the strife
The grief,
And sleepless nights.
My mind no longer wanders,
Dreams of black
Where color and visions one dwelled.
I am the shell, not the man
You once knew for so long.
Here today I stand amongst you,
Aspirated from the loneliness
To which is all I know now.
I am who you see,
Bonded to this empty void.
