Our Destiny...Behold Us
You are the one I miss the most,
Dreams of all your triumphs,
And those truly embarrassing frustrations
Just to name a few.
Youth was our ambition
As little more than arrogance ran through us.
Our year to rule,
That we had set out to master
Conquering all our feared obstacles.
We were the makers of our destiny’s,
Nothing could push us aside anymore—
Nor walk around us as if nothing else existed.
What is there to understand?
This is the card we were dealt
The path that our lives wished to walk—
And we all chanced,
Indifference became determination,
As we walked that road—
Now no one can deny the fate we chose
Because it was our way
To be a doctor...teacher...lawyer...or a poet,
Even in failure we will be strong,
And in success that strength shall be the least to diminish.
