Surrounding Shades

He walked within the shadows, in and out,
quietly watching, silently pacing, desperately
clinging to a hesitant power.
Strength finds him here,
watching his prey
unaware, nevertheless afraid
of these shadows.
He strikes,
Lunging, leaping, clawing—
fatality emerges,
his prey still clinging,
to an nameless end
as the shadows surround
them both.
